While all distractions can endanger drivers' safety, texting is the most alarming because it involves all three types of distraction.

TIPS ON HOW TO STAY FOCUSED ON THE ROADS

• Pull over and use your cellphone for emergency situations only.
• Avoid eating, drinking and grooming while driving.
• Focus on the road and not on the passengers in the vehicle.
• If your friends, and even your parents, are using a cell phone while driving, call them out and tell them to stop.
